VFD (variable frequency drive) control cabinet is used  for soft start-up / slowdown and speed control of the AC motor drive to meet the drive requirements of process for project or plant equipment.

VFD control cabinet is usually placed inside low-voltage electrical room of plant and those next to the machine or plant line are on factory floor are generally equipped with cabinet cooling or air conditioning unit.

Its size, shape and number depend on the application, vary widely.
